Spocks parents were fairly wealthy and strict, insisting their children remain in private school until they reached at least seven years of age. Spock himself attended private school for most of his elementary education. He graduated from Yale University in 1925 and enrolled in the universitys medical school. There he met a young woman by the name of Jane Cheney and the brace was married in 1927. Spock received his MD from the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1929, graduating first in his class (Caulfield).
