In reading Genesis 2: 19-20, I realized that Adam had a God given seat for classifying animals. Dictionary.com defines classification as the assignment of organisms to congregations within a system of rules of categories distinguished by structure, origin, etc. (ESV). He took the time to group them according to categories, and then individually naming each animal. In rhyme 19, it said that Adam named all of the animals and in verse 20, it says that ...Adam gave names to all the livestock and to the birds of the air and to every brute of the field... (Amplified Bible). This implies that he gave the animals names based on their groupings (livestock, birds, beasts, etc.). By Adam cataloguing the species, it gives us an understanding of defining certain characteristics to compartmentalizing different species and their subgroups.
Noahs concept of measurement
The passage of scripture from Genesis 6:12-22 And this is the port which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three degree centigrade cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
(ESV) shows where God specifically instructs Noah with the measurements required to build the Ark. Noah was instructed as to what length, largeness and height he should build the ark. Â God had to equip Noah with the understanding of what cubits are and a method for gauging the increments in order for Noah to contend what length and width each section of the ark was to be built accordingly. Even if Noahs measurements were off, his concept or interpretation of what a measure of cubit is was unblemished enough to fit all of the animals and cargo aboard the Ark. We know this to be true because later we are told that Noah accomplished the job as told to him by God and thus saved the vitality on earth.
