The American Dream

The American Dream can be used as a cliché in almost any American sustainyard situation. We conceptualise of Items such as a pool in the back yard, a golden retriever catching a Frisbee with dad is broil BBQ on the grill on an early summer day. possibly we think of a nice car for Dad to position to his steady flowing paycheck and a mini-van for mom to discover the kids to summer camp and school. Mom is going to stay at home to cook and clean, unless she volunteers at the church. Dad is happy to go to work and is steadily climbing the company ladder. This is all kinda iconic and what I think as the typical American dream.
There are few aspects of the American Dream in any of the characters feel. Each someone in this story has most sort of an issue or a problem or life altering complications. It is important to understand the issues each person has before I can write about how it affects the typical American Dream. Dodge is older man in his seventies and is responsible for killing the product of his wife, Halie and his oldest son, Tilden. Dodge is the tyro of Tilden and Bradley and a failed farmer. After his wife gives birth to Tildens son he drowns it and buries it in one of the back fields. This dead baby is the families great, horrible secret, hence the title of the play Buried electric razor.



This drives dodge to employ multiple vices in his life such as drunkenness, sloth, smoking, and a life in front of the picture instead of in the fields providing for his family. This man is nothing costly what a father should be. He ran from his problems and is now emasculated by his failed farm and family. He has given up on his life and any of his dreams. There is even a sense of timidity from his family and society as a whole. A family needs a father in the house to be the head of the family and permit the members in times of trouble. Dodge fails his family.
